Sembo Modular SD6500 Barber Shop

Finally arrived- the bigger Sembo modular street which consist of 4 designs. Sembo actually follow (not 100%) the designs from bigger Lego mini modular street (the "VIP only" set). My girl like to assemble modular street. Initially I thought the set is as big as the Lego modular set, turns out it is much bigger. And, they came with LED brick, that's the special feature of this set, battery included. Here's the first design SD6500,- Barber Shop
The street market has been turned into a barber shop.
Notice that big black brick? That's the battery compartment (kinda blocking huh?)
Turn ON the light
Light from the back. Too bad, only one floor is bright.
Even though Sembo provide translucent ceiling-floor, but the lower floor is still quite dark as light can barely pass through. Tried to google if the logo follows any famous Barber shop, can't find it.

  1. Better color scheme than what Ausini had done, at least it don't look poisonous.

    1. Ha HA! Anyway, it did not really follow the Lego modular set, quite a number of bricks are different. So, legally it is still MOC with lights.

    2. There are quite a number of seller selling LED bricks in different colors, some use battery, some use USBs. Many sites teaches us how to "upgrade" existing Lego modular with LED sets, even sell the set for the particular Lego modular. Finish product is nice, but it also finish our wallet.

    3. Googled.
Woh, its do look nice. But light kit alone is US 60-70 for those big modular builds, you are right on the wallet thing.

  2. This is the first time I see this lighting kit upclose. The effect is nice but the kit is too big.

If you're building a modular building with no interior, then its easy to just hide the lights, wires and battery blocks inside. Otherwise, its tricky to hide the kit and have it blend with interior and furnitures.

What battery type does it use? The battery block is definitely tricky to hide.

    1. The battery block is the size of two basic 2x4 brick size stack on top each other. while the light piece is a 4x1 flat piece. So, maybe we can disguise it as a cabinet? A TV table?
Actually, main issue is the wires. One need to drill holes through the bricks if need to hide it well. So, you re correct, a modular building without interior will be the best way to hide it, but need to access to it easily to ON=OFF the light. It uses 3 buttons battery, those Panadol-Aspirin size battery. Although the light look blue through the camera, but they are actually white with our eyes.
By the way, have you bought any item through Mudah or Lelong before?
