MEGA Size Gundam

Been quite awhile did not buy Gundam. Got this Mega size Gundam (ori Bandai) with LED light. Although the model is big (over a feet tall), but lack in details and lesser piece count vs. the smaller scale model. My boy complete it under a day.

SD Gundam Clone

Another Gundam Clone brand. The plastic and finished look is okay, only sometimes the color differs and thickness is a bit thin (easy to break). Better if paint instead of using the stickers provided. The fitting is not accurate, having gaps (hard to enclosed together, some is just too tight), but the joints are good. Not as loose as the previous clone. If you want a good model kit, buy the original, if you want a "toy" and let your kids play with it until it breaks, then can consider this.

After fixing one, I need to give this brand as a NOT recommended buy, the fitting is just too hard, and the matching is just not accurate for a kid to do it. My kid find it too hard to put together - he says this brand is "hard labor". So, making this model is no longer just some simple clip and click, but includes also trim, sand, press, glue, refine, etc.etc. But if you can get through all this tedious task, the finished outcome is OK. (some toys rate their difficulty level *** or ****, but these are F***©# )

Gundam SD

Another BanDai Gundam - SD series. Compare with the cheap 3K gundams. this BanDai one is of course way better in terms of fitting and plastic quality. But, as it is listed as "This is not a toy", hence after assembly, it will be inside the display cabinet. By the way, this model can be make into five variant.. (3 robot mode, 2 plane mode)

3 Kingdom-Episode 1

These cheap 3 Kingdom (3K) Gundam series quality are quite good. The plastic quality and assembly of the parts is acceptable. The joints sockets are made out from those rubbery plastic similar to genuine Gundam. Some parts like the shoulder armor pads, helmet extensions, weapons do comes off easily after assembly. The joints (mainly the hand) will come loose during figure posing. But, my 9+ year old love this series a lot. Good alternative and starter to the Bandai series.

Original Gundams after assembly, is a model for display and not a toy. But for these Gundams, your kids can actually play with it like a toy should be. We will encounter parts keep dropping off ( or missing) during play time, but that is the difference between toy and model. My elder son is happy and interested in collecting the rest of the series.

This is the first 3 Kingdom bootleg Gundam purchased
MENG HU ZHUANG SUN QUAN A017
Of course, the original 3K Gundam looks way better, but not for a 9+ year old to play with. The stickers and plastic colors do make it look a bit low grade, but for those that plan to paint their models (and glue some of the parts), believe it will look good for display. One can even learn how to paint on this first. ( no worry of "disfiguring" a pricey model). After this first set, the rest of the 3K Gundams just keep coming in ....
SAN GUO LU SHUANG - LU BU A023
DIAN WEI ( find this one quite loose build, easily fall off)
HUANG GAI A001
YUAN SHAO A002
BAI YI JIANG JUN LU XUN - Flying Mode
BAI YI JIANG JUN LU XUN - Land Mode
SI MA YI A025
ZHANG LIAO A010
HANGAOZU LIU BANG A015

There's many similar packing and various brands, look out for the Xing Hao (too high) brand, and the series always starts with A00x to Axxx

3 Kingdom -Episode4

Another 4 to add to the collection. Somehow I find those Gundam looking ones looks and build better than those Zaku looking ones.

Gundam

Completed my first Gundam model Age 1 Titus today (actually started about a month ago, where I let my 9+ year old build it by himself - yes, he is able to do it).
BUT, he broke one of the pieces while removing it from the plastic frame. (Arrgh! - So, never let a kid do your Gundam model alone)
Anyway, he still continue to finish the model for me, but I am the one who will be removing the pieces from the frames from now on.
Good experience making the Gundam models, I always love these robots since StarCraft time. Did not paint it, I know I will make a mess out of it if I paint it. But for individuals that is good in model painting, it will make the models look better.
All the pieces are precise (the assembling clicked perfectly). During posing, some of the joints will detached, but can easily be fitted back.
Spallow is our 2nd Gundam purchase. Top quality model kit (BanDai mah - original)

This is how the boxes look like
